V tuneli pod ľadovo chladnými nórskymi horami havaruje cisternové vozidlo. Rodiny, tínedžeri a turisti, ktorí cestujú na vianočné sviatky, ostanú uväznení pod tonami skál v brutálnej tme. Vonku zúri snehová víchrica a prví záchranári sa snažia dostať na miesto nehody. Čas je podstatný a keď sa havarovaný tanker náhle vznieti, situácia sa vyostruje. Všetkých v tuneli obklopí smrtiaci oheň. V nórskych tuneloch platí zásada sebazáchrany - keď dôjde ku katastrofe, každý bojuje sám za seba a všetci si musia poradiť sami. Čas však ubieha rýchlo a šance na prežitie sú stále menšie a menšie.
