История фильма является приквелом к компьютерной игре «Assassin`s Creed II». Сюжет фильма сфокусирован на отце центрального персонажа «Assassin`s Creed II», Джованни Аудиторе де Фиренце. Джованни — ассасин, живущий в эпоху Ренессанса в XV веке в Италии. На заре новой эры, некая коррумпированная семья готовит заговор с целью свержения могущественной семьи Медичи и уничтожении единой Италии. Как ассасин, Джованни должен противостоять этой угрозе и восстановить справедливость.
