Лето 1975 года Пьер Паоло Пазолини проводит за монтажом своего самого скандального фильма «Сало, или 120 дней Содома» и заканчивая работу над книгой, в которой излагает новые факты загадочной гибели главы нефтегазовой компании. Этим летом Пазолини часто видят вместе с Пино Пелози, молодым человеком из рабочих районов Рима. Когда из кинолаборатории пропадает негатив фильма, Пазолини догадывается, кто может стоять за кражей. В ночь с первого на второе ноября он едет выкупать негатив у похитителей и попадает в смертельную западню.
