Lo zucchero è presente nell'80% dei cibi confezionati. Che cosa succede al nostro corpo se ci fidiamo dei prodotti in apparenza sani - se non dietetici - definiti a basso contenuto o persino "senza zuccheri"? In Zucchero! That Sugar Film, l'attore e regista australiano Damon Gameau ha realizzato un esperimento unico nel suo genere: documentare il passaggio da un'alimentazione attenta ed equilibrata a una dieta ipercalorica, con un alto contenuto di zuccheri. Per questo vero e proprio esperimento si è nutrito di cibi considerati "sani", ma che in realtà sono ricchi di zuccheri nascosti, come yogurt magro, succhi di frutta, cereali e barrette di muesli, verdure in scatola... Tutte abitudini alimentari, molto diffuse nei cosiddetti Paesi avanzati, che corrispondono, però a circa 40 cucchiaini da tè di zucchero al giorno!
