Con el fin de preparar el guión de un film sobre el suicidio, un joven director de cine entrevista a gente que ha intentado quitarse la vida, todos ellos pacientes de su novia, una joven psicóloga. El realizador verterá sus experiencias, pensamientos y obsesiones en un diario que, por azar, acaba en manos de una pintora que ha sufrido un desengaño amoroso. A través de su lectura, su interés y preocupación por la vida del joven director va en aumento, hasta el punto que decide ir en su búsqueda. "Jaizkibel" aborda el drama del suicidio y sus consecuencias en la figura de Gorka, el joven realizador. Las múltiples perspectivas que se ofrecen al espectador a través de la narración facilitan la reflexión madura, pero no pesimista, cruda, pero no desesperanzadora, realista, pero no morbosa, de los motivos últimos de quien decide quitarse la vida, así como las consecuencias más directas sobre el entorno más inmediato del suicida.
