Basado en un hecho real, Yossi y Jagger retrata la historia de amor entre dos oficiales israelíes en una basa del ejército situada en la frontera Israelí-Libanesa. Yossi, el comandante de la compañía, es un joven introvertido y en gran parte un hombre-de-sistema, Jagger, el jefe del pelotón, es mucho más abierto y liberado, la estrella de la compañía. Yossi está convencido de mantener su amor en secreto, mientras que Jagger, que está a punto de acabar el servicio, cree que Yossi debería abandonar el ejército con él. Yossi y Jagger retrata la vida de los jóvenes israelíes de hoy. La película presenta un grupo de hombres y mujeres jóvenes a los que en vez de estar bailando, estudiando y amando, los vemos debidos al servicio obligatorio del ejército, dedicando sus años más hermosos a su país como soldados, para matar jugándose la vida. Sin bandera que agitar o postura ideológica, Yossi y Jagger cuenta la historia de la gente joven que intenta sobrevivir en un mundo difícil.
